What is DataNeverLies?
DataNeverLies is a price guide, market-signal engine, and portfolio tracker for trading cards — built on one rule: every price traces back to real sales, anything modeled is labeled an estimate, and every claim survives a test. Here is everything it does, and the math on how it can pay for itself.
Why it exists
The card market runs on bad information
Collectors price cards off asking prices that never sell, guides that quietly mix estimates with real data, and hype that arrives after the move already happened. Sellers leave money on the table because they don't know their floor; buyers overpay because they don't know what a venue-fair price is; and everyone submits cards for grading on a hunch.
DataNeverLies replaces all of that with measured data: 926K real sales analyzed across 167K cards in 10 categories, repriced daily, across 16 grade tiers.

A price guide built from real sales — nothing else
FreePrices for every tracked card come from actual market activity: TCGplayer market prices for Pokémon, Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh, Lorcana and Digimon, and real recorded sold prices — from eBay and the major auction houses — for sports cards. No asking prices, no listings, no made-up numbers.
Every card is priced across the full grading ladder — PSA, BGS, CGC, SGC and raw — with per-grade price history charts and the individual sales behind them. Raw TCG cards get the standard condition ladder too: Near Mint is the live market price, and Lightly Played through Damaged are derived with standard market discounts, clearly labeled as estimates.
Buy & sell signals with a published, replayable track record
MembershipEvery night the engine scores every liquid card and grade from 0–100 across eight market factors — mean reversion, pullback recovery, volume-backed trends, distribution patterns — and publishes plain-language BUY and SELL calls.
Before a single signal went live we replayed the engine against 29 months of real sales, week by week, using only the data that existed at each point in time. Buys went on to beat the market by +5.3 points over the next 4 weeks (+7.7 by 12 weeks); sell flags trailed it by −5.4 points (−10.9 by 12 weeks). Buys won in 99 of 100 backtested weeks. That's measured past performance on our data feed — not a promise of future results.
And the part most sites won't tell you: where the test doesn't prove an edge, we don't publish signals. Sports cards are excluded from signals today — their sale history on our feed is still too young to clear the proof bar — and they join the moment they pass the same test. That's what "DataNeverLies" means.
Trade targets & a buy advisor for every venue
MembershipFor any card and grade, get a ready-made sell ladder (95 / 90 / 85 / 80% of market value) and buy ladder (80 down to 60%) — on eBay, with the ~13% seller fee netted out of your sell targets so you see what you'd actually pocket, or dealing cash at a show, where the numbers work differently.
The buy advisor goes one step further: type in an asking price, pick the venue, and it tells you steal / buy / fair / rich / pass — factoring in the card's liquidity (thinly-traded cards get an automatic discount) and any active signal on the card. It's guidance, not financial advice — every buying decision, and its outcome, is yours alone.
AI scanner, pre-grade estimates & cert lookup
MembershipPhotograph any card and the AI identifies it — set, number, parallel — and pulls its live prices. Slabbed card? It reads the label and cert number in seconds, ready to check against the grader's own cert lookup before money changes hands.
Thinking about grading a raw card? The pre-grade tool examines your photos (front and back), measures centering, and estimates a grade range with per-category subgrades — before you spend grading fees and months of turnaround on a card that's unlikely to gem.
Portfolio, watchlist & price alerts
MembershipAdd your collection and it becomes a live portfolio: current value by real market prices, gains and losses against what you paid, and a performance chart over time — like a brokerage account for cardboard.
Watch any card and set price alerts in either direction; alert digests land in your inbox, so the market comes to you.
A market assistant that reads the live data
MembershipThe built-in AI analyst answers with the actual guide in front of it — real comps, your real portfolio, live category indexes. Ask it what to sell first, whether a price is fair, or how a set has moved since January, and it cites the data it used.
The name is the policy
Why you can trust the numbers
Four rules the product is built around — including the ones that cost us flashy marketing claims.
Real sales only
Prices derive from completed sales and market prices — never active listings or asking prices. If a card hasn't traded, we say so instead of inventing a number.
Proven edge or no signal
Signals publish only for markets where the point-in-time backtest proves they work. Sports cards are excluded until their history clears the same bar — we tell you that on the page instead of selling you noise.
Estimates are labeled
Grade-curve interpolations and condition discounts are marked as estimates everywhere they appear. Real observations and modeled numbers never masquerade as each other.
Stale data says it's stale
A card that last sold ten months ago shows 'last sold' with the date — not a fresh-looking 30-day count. Sale-to-card matching is audited against the raw listing titles: every confirmed mismatch is purged and the matcher hardened so it can't recur.
Worth every penny
The membership math
Membership is $14.99/month — $99.99/year (≈ $8.33/month) on the annual plan. If just ONE of these happens for you in a month, membership has paid for itself:
One disciplined sale
+$15$100 card · cash sale at a show · 95% instead of a panicked 80%
The sell ladder tells you where to list and where your floor is. Holding the line once on a single $100 card covers a month of membership.
One avoided overpay
+$15$150 card · offered at 85% when a fair in-person price is 75%
The buy advisor prices every venue differently — dealers at shows expect cash discounts eBay buyers don't get. One 'Rich — negotiate' verdict a month pays for the tool that gave it.
One skipped grading miss
≈$25+grading fee + shipping on a card that wouldn't gem
A pre-grade estimate that talks you out of one bad submission saves the fee, the shipping, and months of waiting — several months of membership in one decision.
The signal edge, once
≈$26$500 position · backtested +5.3pp buy edge over 4 weeks
In the backtest, the measured 4-week buy edge on a single modest position was worth more than the monthly price — across a 25,000 signal-week test. Past results, not a promise.
Scenarios are hypothetical examples using the product's actual trade ladders and the backtested signal edge; your results depend on your cards and your market. Backtest results are point-in-time on our data feed — informational only, not financial advice, and past performance doesn't guarantee future results.
